About us
We are the Mobile Socialworkers for Youth in Vienna, consisting of these following facilities: Back on Stage (Viennese Union for Youth) and Back Bone (Union Alte Fleischerei).
The contents and methodic ways of our work is to be seen as an own independent workingfield within the so called outer-school youthwork in Vienna
Our work is distict and region orientated refering to youngsters, that spend most of their time out in public places. Very often they are felt to be disturbing, which is the reason why they get excluded or marginalized.
We work against being socially excluded, by supporting adolescent persons and by encuraging them to insist upon their rights in society.
We are interested in the welfare of our youth, and the realisation of their ideas as well as co-management and co-organisation of social political processes. In doing so we grant young women a significant position.
We feel responsible for the problems that our youth have, but not for the problems they make for themselves. Accordingly we respect our youths desire for non pedagogic occupied areas.
The principles of our relationship are:
Today Mobile work with juveniles in made up by different components taken out of the field of clasic Socialwork. Therefore our work is individual- and commonwealth orientated. It is also a combination of: streetwork, group- and cliquework. Our resource and necessity orientated approach requires continual embrace of various types of workingfiels and methods. This is the reason why it is necessary to work with cross-cultural and multi-professional teams.
Next to our already mentioned assistance in formulation and framing our youths necessities and needs, we see ourselves as the mouthpiece and lobby for youngsters.
Since 1992 we put our work successfully into practice. In the meantime it is impossible to imagine us not being around as an essential faktor among outer-school youthwork in Vienna.
